Privacy Policy

No account, no ads, no trackers. Your focus data stays on your device unless you choose to sync it within your own iCloud.

Effective June 7, 2026

TimeTaps is an ADHD-friendly focus and planning app built privacy-first. You do not create an account, there is nothing to sign up for, and we do not sell or share your information. Your tasks, focus sessions, and settings live on your own device.

If you turn on iCloud sync, your data is stored inside your personal Apple iCloud account, which Apple encrypts and which we cannot read. There are no ads, no advertising identifier, no analytics SDKs, no third-party tracking, and no server-side processing of your content. When you use AI task breakdown, it runs privately on your device where supported, or goes directly from your device to the AI provider you choose. It never passes through TimeTaps servers.

No account No ads or trackers Stored on your device Optional iCloud sync

Our approach to privacy

TimeTaps was made by Dr. Casey Simon, a licensed therapist who works with ADHD clients. The app is designed to help with time blindness, burnout, and executive function, and protecting your privacy is part of that care.

Our guiding principle is simple: your focus data belongs to you. We collect as little as possible, we keep your information on your own device by default, and we do not build profiles, run ads, or track you across other apps and websites. Where a feature needs to reach outside your device, such as syncing or AI, it happens within your own Apple account or with a provider you choose, never through servers we operate.

In short No account is required to use TimeTaps, and we have no servers that store or process your personal content.

Information we do not collect

To be specific about what TimeTaps does not do:

  • No account, sign-up, email, or password. You can download and start using the app right away.
  • No analytics SDKs. We do not embed third-party analytics or telemetry frameworks that report your behavior back to us.
  • No advertising. There are no ads in TimeTaps, and we do not use the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA).
  • No third-party tracking. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • No server-side processing of your content. We do not operate servers that receive, store, or analyze your tasks, focus sessions, or other personal data.

Information stored on your device

TimeTaps keeps your information on your device so the app works fully without an account. This data stays on your device unless you choose to enable iCloud sync (described below). It includes:

  • Tasks, subtasks, and urgency indicators
  • Student Mode classes and due dates
  • Focus sprint sessions and history
  • Focus streaks, milestones, and Streak Shields
  • Achievements and personal bests
  • Your hamster companion's state and the carrots you earn
  • Focus insights, including optional mood and energy entries
  • App settings, preferences, and your chosen theme

This information is used only inside the app, on your device, to power the features you see. It is not transmitted to us.

iCloud sync

iCloud sync is optional and off unless you turn it on. When enabled, TimeTaps uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your data in sync across your own devices, such as your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Your synced data lives inside your personal Apple iCloud account. Apple encrypts this data, and because it stays within your account, we cannot read it. TimeTaps has no separate cloud and no copy of your information.

You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the app's settings or in your iOS settings, and you can manage your overall iCloud storage through your Apple account. Your use of iCloud is also governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Your account, your control Sync happens within your own iCloud. We never receive or store a copy of your synced data.

Apple Health (HealthKit) data

If you grant permission, TimeTaps can read certain Apple Health data, such as steps, sleep, and mindfulness minutes, to power movement reminders and focus insights. This is optional, and the app works without it.

Any HealthKit data is read on your device only. It is used on-device to surface gentle reminders and personal insights, and it is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can review or revoke Health permissions at any time in the iOS Health app or in Settings.

AI task breakdown

AI task breakdown is a Pro feature that turns a big task into smaller, doable steps. It is always something you start, and it works in one of two ways depending on your device.

On supported devices

On a device with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 and an Apple Intelligence capable device), AI task breakdown runs entirely on-device. No API key is needed, and nothing you type leaves your device for this feature.

On other devices (bring your own key)

On other devices, you can bring your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. When you run a breakdown, the request goes directly from your device to the provider you selected, using your own key. It does not pass through TimeTaps servers, and we never receive your content. What you send is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms, so we encourage you to review the policy of whichever provider you choose.

Private and user-initiated AI features only run when you choose to use them. We never route your AI requests through our own servers.

Calendar and Reminders

TimeTaps can connect with Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders using Apple's EventKit, but only with your permission and only for the items you choose. Calendar supports two-way import and export, and Reminders supports one-way export.

You decide what syncs. These connections happen on your device through Apple's frameworks, and the data is not sent to us. You can grant or revoke Calendar and Reminders access at any time in iOS Settings.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, TimeTaps schedules them locally on your device, for example to mark the end of a focus sprint or a break, or to send gentle, optional reminders.

Notifications are generated and delivered on-device. We do not run a push server that collects information about you, and you can turn notifications on or off at any time in iOS Settings.

Purchases and subscriptions

TimeTaps Pro is sold through Apple using StoreKit. Apple processes your payment, manages your subscription, and handles renewals, refunds, and receipts.

We never receive your payment information, such as your card number or billing details. The app simply asks Apple whether your Pro entitlement is active. You can view, change, or cancel your subscription, and redeem any offer, gift, or loyalty code, through your Apple App Store account. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Because your data stays on your device by default, it is protected by your device's built-in iOS security, including your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and Apple's data protection.

If you enter an AI provider API key, it is stored securely in the iOS Keychain rather than in plain text. Data you sync is protected within your encrypted iCloud account. No method of storage is ever completely immune from risk, but we have designed TimeTaps to keep your information local and under your control.

Children's privacy

TimeTaps does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. There is no account, no sign-up, and no tracking, and the app is offered in line with its App Store age rating.

If a younger user uses the app, we recommend that a parent or guardian set it up and manage permissions, for example through Apple's Family Sharing and Screen Time controls.

Third-party services

TimeTaps relies on a small number of services to function, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Apple iCloud and CloudKit, used only if you enable sync, to keep your data within your own Apple account.
  • The Apple App Store and StoreKit, used to deliver the app and handle any Pro purchase.
  • Your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google), used only if you bring your own key on a device without on-device AI, and only for the requests you start.

For Apple services, please review the privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy. For an AI provider, please review the privacy policy published by that provider. We do not share your data with these services beyond what each feature requires for you to use it.

Your choices and control

You stay in control of TimeTaps at every step:

  • You control every permission, including Health, Calendar, Reminders, and notifications, in iOS Settings, and you can revoke any of them at any time.
  • You choose whether to enable iCloud sync, and you can turn it off whenever you like.
  • You decide whether to use AI features and, where applicable, which provider and key to use.
  • Deleting the TimeTaps app removes its on-device data from that device. Turning off iCloud sync and removing the app's iCloud data clears your synced copy from your Apple account.
Tip To remove everything, turn off iCloud sync for TimeTaps and then delete the app from each of your devices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page.

If a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to highlight it, such as a note in the app. Continuing to use TimeTaps after an update means you accept the revised policy.
