Getting started

What is TimeTaps?

TimeTaps is an ADHD-friendly focus and planning app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It turns time into something you can see and feel, with visual timers, focus sprints, a gentle planner, guided breaks, and a hamster companion that grows alongside your focus streak. It was built to help with time blindness, burnout, and executive function, by Dr. Casey Simon, a licensed therapist who works with ADHD clients.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email, and no profile to create. You download TimeTaps and start using it right away. If you want your data to follow you across your devices, you can optionally turn on iCloud sync, which uses your own personal iCloud and never an account with us.

Is it free?

Yes. The core app is free, forever. That includes the visual timer, focus sprints, the planner, Student Mode, six guided breaks, focus streaks and a Streak Shield, achievements, the hamster companion and pet shop, focus insights, calendar and reminders sync, Body Doubling, widgets, and the Apple Watch app. TimeTaps Pro is an optional upgrade that unlocks extra features, but you never lose access to anything you already use for free.

Which devices are supported?

TimeTaps runs on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, and requires iOS 17 or later. It includes Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and Live Activities, and it is available in English and Latin American Spanish. Some Pro AI features run fully on-device and require iOS 26 with an Apple Intelligence capable device.

What is a Focus Sprint?

A Focus Sprint is a Pomodoro-style focus session. By default it runs 24 minutes of focus, then a 5-minute break, with a longer 20-minute break after every four sprints. You can adjust the focus length anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to fit how your brain works that day. A timer ring and your hamster keep you company while you go.

Focus sprints and timers

Can I change the sprint and break lengths?

Yes. The defaults are 24 minutes of focus, a 5-minute break, and a 20-minute long break after four sprints, but you can adjust the focus length from 15 to 45 minutes. Pick the rhythm that helps you start and keep going, then change it whenever your energy changes.

Do timers keep running when the app is in the background or my phone is locked?

Yes. Your sprint keeps accurate time when TimeTaps is in the background or your phone is locked. Live Activities and Lock Screen widgets show your countdown without unlocking, so you always know how much focus time is left at a glance.

Can I control the timer from my Apple Watch?

Yes. The Apple Watch app lets you start and control a focus sprint right from your wrist, so you can keep your phone out of sight while you stay on track.

What are guided breaks?

Guided breaks are short, structured activities that help a break actually reset you instead of turning into a doom-scroll. TimeTaps includes six: box breathing, hydration, eye rest using the 20-20-20 rule, stand and stretch, a quick walk, and squats. They run automatically between sprints, and they are all free.

Hamster, carrots, and streaks

What are carrots and how do I earn them?

Carrots are the in-app reward you earn for focusing. Completing focus sprints and building good habits earns carrots, which you can spend in the pet shop on hats, toys, and cozy homes for your hamster. Carrots can also be used to earn a Streak Shield if you are on the free plan. There is nothing to buy with real money here, carrots are simply a gentle, encouraging way to celebrate progress.

How does the hamster evolve?

Your hamster companion grows happier and more capable as you focus. It has six animations and five evolution stages that reflect your focus habits over time. The hamster is free, and it is designed to cheer you on rather than guilt you, so progress feels good instead of pressured.

What is a focus streak and what is a Streak Shield?

A focus streak counts the days in a row you stay engaged with your focus habit, with milestones at 7, 14, and 30 days. Because one off-day should never undo your hard work, a Streak Shield bridges a single missed day so your streak survives. Free users can earn one Streak Shield with carrots, and TimeTaps Pro adds a monthly Streak Shield refill.

Pro and billing

What do I get with Pro?

TimeTaps Pro adds: AI Task Breakdown that turns a big task into small, doable steps; Smart Scheduling that learns your peak focus window from your own history and suggests when to start; Focus Lock in soft or hardened mode to keep you on the timer; five color themes (Coral Calm, Ocean Depths, Forest Retreat, Lavender Dusk, and Warm Ember); gentle, optional ADHD helpers like inactivity check-ins and step-goal reminders; and a monthly Streak Shield refill. Everything in the free app stays free.

How much does it cost?

Pro is available three ways: Monthly at $4.99, Annual at $24.99 per year (which works out to about $2.08 per month), or Lifetime as a one-time $59.99 purchase. The Pro unlock lives inside the free app, so you can try TimeTaps first and upgrade only when you are ready. Existing subscribers are grandfathered on any future price changes.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The Annual plan includes a 14-day free trial. The trial is annual-only, so the Monthly and Lifetime options do not include a trial. You will not be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel during the trial to avoid being billed.

How do I cancel?

You can manage or cancel anytime from your App Store account: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose TimeTaps. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. A Lifetime purchase is a one-time payment, so there is nothing to cancel.

How do refunds work?

All purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested through Apple rather than through us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and request a refund for your TimeTaps purchase. Apple reviews and decides on refunds based on its policies. If you run into trouble, email us and we will point you in the right direction.

How do I restore purchases on a new device?

Sign in to the same Apple Account you used to buy Pro, then open TimeTaps and use the restore purchases option in the Pro or Settings screen. Because purchases are tied to your Apple Account, your Pro access comes back without paying again.

Does it support Family Sharing?

Whether a purchase can be shared depends on Apple's Family Sharing rules for the specific subscription or in-app purchase. The simplest way to check is to look at the TimeTaps listing on the App Store, where Apple shows whether an item is eligible for Family Sharing. If you have questions about your situation, email us and we will help where we can.

How do I redeem an offer or gift code?

Open TimeTaps, go to Settings, then choose Redeem a Code, and enter your offer, gift, or loyalty code there. The code applies to your Pro access inside the free app.

Privacy and data

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored on your device. There is no account, no ads, no advertising identifier, no analytics SDKs, no third-party tracking, and no server-side processing of your data. If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your data is synced within your own personal iCloud using Apple's CloudKit, which Apple encrypts and which we cannot read.

How does iCloud sync work?

iCloud sync is optional. When you turn it on, TimeTaps keeps your data in step across your devices using your own personal iCloud through Apple's CloudKit. Everything stays within your Apple account, Apple encrypts it, and we have no access to it. If you prefer, you can leave sync off and keep everything on a single device.

Is the AI feature private?

Yes, and it only runs when you ask it to. On supported devices, AI Task Breakdown runs fully on-device with Apple Intelligence on iOS 26 or later, with no API key needed and nothing leaving your device. On other devices, you can bring your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google key, and requests go straight from your device to your chosen provider, never through TimeTaps servers. Any API keys you enter are stored securely in the iOS Keychain.

Does it use my health data?

Only if you allow it, and only on your device. With your permission, TimeTaps reads HealthKit data such as steps, sleep, and mindfulness to power movement reminders and your focus insights. That health data is used on-device and is never transmitted off your device.

Does it read my calendar?

Only when you choose to. TimeTaps uses Apple's EventKit for Apple Calendar two-way import and export, and one-way export to Apple Reminders. Syncing is manual and user-chosen, so you decide exactly what is brought in or sent out, and nothing happens automatically without you.

Sync and troubleshooting

My data is not syncing across devices, what do I do?

First, make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account and that iCloud sync is turned on in TimeTaps. Then confirm iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings and that each device has a working internet connection. Sync can take a moment to catch up, so give it a little time after a change. If it still will not sync, try opening the app on each device and, as a last step, restart the devices, then email us with the details and we will help.

I am not getting notifications.

Open the iOS Settings app, find TimeTaps under Notifications, and make sure notifications are allowed. Also check that Focus modes or Do Not Disturb are not silencing them, and that your volume and ringer are on if you expect sound. If notifications still do not appear, toggling them off and back on for TimeTaps often clears it up.

My widget is not updating.

Widgets refresh on the system's schedule, so a short delay is normal. To nudge it, try removing the widget and adding it back, make sure TimeTaps is up to date, and confirm Background App Refresh is enabled in iOS Settings. Opening the app once usually prompts the widget to refresh as well.

How do I delete my data?

Because there is no account and your data lives on your device, deleting the app removes its on-device data. If you enabled iCloud sync, you can remove the TimeTaps data stored in your iCloud from iOS Settings under your name, then iCloud and Manage Account Storage. If you would like a hand walking through it, email us and we will guide you.
